(Some may also be available on Youtube or Netflix) Enheduanna: Ornament of the Sky Learn about the historical Enheduanna (documentary) Youtube link A Voice Like Egypt A documentary about Oum Kalsoum - Youtube link Rom Corner: Latcho Drom A Musical film featuring Romany culture. Available on Youtube. Also, any film directed by Latcho Drom's Tony Gatlif; his focus is the Romany way of life in several different cultures. I love this film for the music, but have enjoyed all of his films. Vengo A musical film about southern Spain. Available on Netflix. The Romany Trail 1 & The Romany Trail 2 A 2-part documentary on Romany culture and history. Gypsy Caravan A documentary about famous Rom musicians touring the U.S. We saw this show live when they played in Cambridge MA, around 1998. Fabulous show. The Middle Eastern sector is somehow not represented in this film, however. Available on Netflix. |
